About Topher Landscaping

Topher Landscaping is a sole proprietorship owned and operated by Christopher Hengeveld.

After graduating the aircraft maintenance program at Centennial College in 1992, Chris didn’t let the poor economy and job shortages slow him down. While working for a Toronto landscape company, Chris’ creative spirit was introduced to the many opportunities the landscape industry offered.

In 1993, armed with youthful determination and rose coloured glasses, Chris left his home town of North York to start his own landscape business in the Quinte area. Although knocking on countless doors throughout the region did not provide the instant success he was hoping for, the customers he did gain received his very best. Chris was quick to establish the core values his business would be built upon….honesty, quality and hard work.

Several years later, Chris married the woman of his dreams and started a family. As the business and their family grew throughout the years, both the successes and sacrifices were experienced by each family member in one form or another. This is simply to say that any success enjoyed by this company today is not due to the blood, sweat and tears of one man, but of his entire family as well.

Topher Landscaping is now proud to offer full landscaping, grounds keeping, and snow removal services. As a testament to their commitment to professional and top quality work, Topher Landscaping is also proud to be a member of both Landscape Ontario and the Canadian Nursery Landscape Association.

With the experience and specialized equipment gained over many years, Chris, along with his family and the skilled team he is proud to work with, looks forward to the opportunities and challenges each new season brings.

Our Logo

There is a common theme laced through all the services we provide.

It’s more than just business. It’s personal.

Our logo is meant to express that. Much like a family leaving their handprints in the freshly poured concrete of their new home, or a child’s finger painting proudly displayed on the fridge, this is our way of saying “Topher was here”. We’re proud of the work we do.

My inspiration

I have always admired the perfect and random beauty found in God’s creation. I am always looking for the opportunity to incorporate that beauty into the work we do. It only takes a moment sitting by a rocky stream or a walk through the deep woods to realize my best efforts can only capture a glimpse of a very big picture. Although humbling, these moments have only ever inspired me to capture more. I am encouraged by the thought that my persistent attempts at this are proudly displayed on God’s fridge.
